Need to know: Snow plowing

Michiganders often joke that if you don’t like the weather, wait five minutes and it’s guaranteed to change. Winters may be mild or severe, but snow is always in the forecast.

Lathrup Village’s Department of Public Service (DPS) plows all residential streets whenever three or more inches of snow falls.

Need to know: Package theft

The theft of delivered packages from front porches is an ongoing problem throughout metro Detroit. These crimes regularly make the local news. Follow these tips to avoid being a victim:

  1. If possible, coordinate your calendar with that of the delivery company. Ensure that someone is home when packages are scheduled to arrive.
  2. Have packages delivered to your work place (after getting approval from your supervisor).
  3. Alert a friend or neighbor regarding a delivery and ask them to retrieve packages for safekeeping.
  4. If you discover that a package has been stolen, be sure to file a police report.
