YARD WASTE

TRASH CAN BE SET OUT AFTER 4:00 PM ON SUNDAY AND BEFORE 7:00 AM ON MONDAY
  • Acceptable Containers:  Yard waste may be placed in either a trash container with a “Yard Waste” decal OR 30-gallon paper yard waste bags – NO plastic bags.  (Decals are available at the city offices.)

  • Twigs and small branches MUST be bundled with twine

  • Acceptable Materials Include:  grass clippings, spent flowers and garden waste, tree and shrub trimmings, wood chips, small branches and twigs, vines, roots w/dirt and mud removed, straw bales, clean fill dirt

  • Branches and twigs smaller than 2 inches in diameter must be broken up to fit completely ink the container

  • Yard waste must be separated from trash and recyclables

  • Yard waste containers must weigh LESS than 50 pounds

Please DO NOT include:  Meat, fish, bones, oils/fats, cooked food, bread, coffee grounds, egg shells, noxious weeds, plastic of ANY kind (from fertilizer, weed & feed, mulch, topsoil, stones, paper products, pet manure, cat litter & charcoal from grills

CHIPPING SERVICE

Branches must be cut to lengths between 4ft and 14ft & placed at the street with the “cut” side facing the street

Stack branches neatly – “beaver dams” will not be collected

Chippable branches are those that are between 2” and 4” in diameter (Pine is not accepted)

Branches that are less than 2” in diameter should be broken up and placed in yard waste bags.

Branches larger than 4” in diameter DO NOT fit in the chipper.  Homeowners must dispose of larger branches on their own.

Stumps and Logs are NOT a part of the chipping program and will NOT be collected.  Homeowners must dispose of these on their own as well.

Christmas trees will be collected as bulk items with regular garbage

If you receive a RED tag, please note the checked item on the tag and make the necessary corrections for collection the following week.

SOCRRA'S DROP-OFF CENTER

NO APPOINTMENTS NEEDED FOR GARBAGE DISPOSAL (See below), but does have limited hours

Now open for Saturday appointments twice a month.  Check the scheduler on the SOCCRA website – Saturday appointment times become available two weeks in advance and additional time slots open up daily.

APPOINTMENTS ARE NECESSARY for recycling, household hazardous waste, electronics drop off, and paper shredding.  Only a single appointment is necessary per visit.  You are welcome to take care of multiple tasks during your scheduled appointment

RECYCLING DROP-OFF is available by appointment ONLY and ONLY open to RESIDENTS.  Only a single appointment is necessary per visit.

NOTE:  The following items are NO longer accepted at the SOCRRA Recycling Center:

  • Bulky rigid plastics

  • Plastic bags and film

  • VHS tapes

  • Cassettes

  • CD’s and cases

  • DVDs and cases
