New City Administrator

Lathrup Village’s new city administrator, Dr. Sheryl L. Mitchell, started Monday, April 2.

Mitchell began her public service career working as a staffer for the Detroit City Council for 13 years. The next 17 years were spent as a senior analyst for the Oakland County Board of Commissioners.

The Albion City Council appointed Mitchell as city manager in September 2014. Mitchell is the city’s chief administrative officer, oversees its $14 million annual budget, and coordinates all city departments. She is focused on building a more vibrant community. Key components are economic vitality through job creation and stabilizing and revitalizing the businesses and neighborhoods.

Mitchell received her doctorate in business administration from Lawrence Technological University. She serves on the boards of the Greater Albion Chamber of Commerce, the Calhoun County Health Commission and the Albion Branch NAACP.
